Meelsy Moo 85 / 365
The little Meels and her mummy @chel are visiting for a week. This is in the car after the two hour flight, quick visit to see great-grandma, back in the car for the hour and half drive home. The glistening of her eyes shows that she had just about had enough for one day thank you.
I must add that this is her first taste of Macca's fries!

Dripping Tap 86 / 365
This is a shot that so many people have done really well and I wanted to try. I need more practice but it was really hard to freeze those drops and get the flowers refracted clearly. Getting the tap to drip slowly is also hard.

Yes, I'm sorry. It rained most of the day and I noticed the drops on the chives... so that's it for today. You can see some refraction in a few of them.

Rock Pool 89 / 365
We've been in Townsville for a couple of days but I actually took this one a few days earlier. We had lunch at the restaurant at the Rock Pool on the Strand. This was the view from our table, pretty nice!

Water Park 90 / 365
We went to the water park on the Strand in Townsville today. It was overcast so not too hot. Amelia loved it!

Golden Bowl 91 / 365
This bowl was a gift, it has beautiful golden tones that the candle light reflected on.

I thought it was pretty neat that this lady obligingly landed on a red hibiscus for me.

The roos come up to our back fence and some are so used to people that they don't jump away unless we get quite close. They always like to sit on the rocks for a bit of extra height.

I kinda liked the line of the grass across the shot. The droplet on the left has a nice sky reflection although a bit hard to see. And the little sunflare took my eye also but it's probably a bit too monotone?
I was flat on my belly for this, that must count for some kind of exercise?

My garden in a droplet 71 / 365
The rain continues to come down so I'm persisting with droplet refraction. I still think it's amazing! This droplet shows my front lawn, trees and some of the spider lily that it is clinging to.
Sorry to continue with the droplets, I won't post one tomorrow ;-)

Busy butterfly 72 / 365
Now this is not a great photo but I really like how you can see her profile. She is a Blue Triangle Butterfly (Graphium sarpedon), at least I think so but please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new at this. I rarely see these ones so I thought I was really lucky to shoot her at all. That's a white duranta she's about to land on.

If you enlarge it you can see a grasshopper on a stalk of grass to the right of the shot.

Sunshine on a cloudy day 74 / 365
This rainbow really was as intense as it looks. It was late afternoon with sunshine to the right, black clouds to the left and a beautiful rainbow in the middle.
Not long after this I walked down the road and took yesterday's sunset.

Dianella droplet 75 / 365
The rain keeps falling which means more opportunities for me to take droplet shots. The droplet is hanging to a Dianella bud which is refracting the garden surrounding it.

Pink Torch Ginger 76 / 365 (Etlingera elatior)
This is a beautiful tropical ginger, not edible. I used one of these flowers to rescue the gorgeous butterfly that so happily posed for me -

Granddaughters 77 / 365
The girls stayed with us after school today. They have crazy hair because it was 'shave for a cure' but the kids just get their hair sprayed with colour and teased up. We went walking on Towers Hill, had a great time and came home very hot, thirsty and tired.

Patient Butterfly 64 / 365
I visited my husband's construction site right next to our house and this butterfly was caught inside. I collected a flower for her to sit on and she was so happy that she just stayed there while I took lots of photos and then flew away.

We went out to Pallarenda beach and found that Cyclone Yasi just about finished off the very old and rotting swimming enclosure. There was still one little girl walking along the top rail and these 3 seagulls making use of the piece that is still standing.

Golden Dragonfly 66 / 365
It has rained nearly all day in Townsville today so this is a photo I took last week. Normally dragonflies and butterflies don't sit still for me. This little dragonfly repeatedly came back to this group of plants long enough for me to get a decent shot.

Busy Bee 69 / 365
This little native bee was very busy collecting pollen from my spider lily (Hymenocallis caribaea). There used to be a hive in a hollow in our Tamarind tree. The hive is long gone so I was glad to see they are still hanging out in my garden. They are tiny little things about half the size of a normal bee and they are stingless which makes them even more attractive.

I'm still trying to perfect the droplet refraction shot. I think it's amazing how the droplets just hang there.

Summer 57 of 365
This makes me feel like summer and since summer is nearly gone, I thought I should make some small tribute to it. The weeds are taking over my garden at the moment and this is one of the prettier ones. Dragonfly 58 / 365

This is definitely not a great shot of a dragonfly, they just move so fast! But it's my first pretty dragonfly, they really are amazing little creatures.

Ageratum is a weed but a pretty one. If you magnify it you can see how all the little hairs are sparkling.

Ivory-Curl 50 of 365 This is another photo from last week's walk around Huxtable Park in Brisbane. It's a Buckinghamia Celsissima or Ivory Curl that is used all around Brisbane and is just beautiful covered in these flowers. This is just the tip of the long flower. The tree is native to North Queensland rainforest. Ferris Wheel 51 of 365 The same perspective as yesterday's flower and just another view of my hibiscus from last month. This one reminds me of a Ferris Wheel.

Nothing to do with spiders at all really. I guess someone thought it looked like a spider.

Gold City at the end of the Rainbow 53 of 365

My town is known as Gold City because it's a gold mining town. So maybe there really is gold at the end of the rainbow ;-)

Rain Drop 54 of 365

I went out after the rain to try this with something far more interesting than a twig. But it was much harder than I thought. So this is my first attempt at a water drop reflection. It won't be my last.

Roses are Red... 55 of 365

This was taken right after the rain yesterday and it was runner up to my droplet. I just wasn't sure about all those drops on it. Anyway, my computer died today and after much messing about, I think I have one week of warranty left. Now how lucky is that. So this is my lucky red rose.

Golden Orb Web 43 of 365 I liked how the sun was backlighting the web. Pretty Weed 44 of 365 I took this yesterday on my walk around Huxtable Park in Brisbane. There is so many photo opportunities on just one walk. Too many to not use again. Southbank 45 of 365 We went for a walk around Southbank in the City (Brisbane). Some of the gardens were damaged by the flooding but the walkway covered in Bougainvillea is beautiful. There was quite a bit of work being done to the pool and beach area. It is such a nice place to spend a few hours. Fly in Pink 46 of 365 I was enjoying a nice glass of Pink bubbly until this little fellow decided he wanted some too. Well, he had to pay, so he got to chill in the wine a little while I took a photo. There was no fly harmed in the taking of this photo. Euodia buds
These are the buds of the Australian Native Euodia Tree (Melicope elleryana). The flowers attract birds and butterflies including the beautiful Ulysses butterfly.

Oh Baby...
Finally got to meet the newest little grandchild and what sweet little chubby cheeks we have. He is just adorable but no name yet.

Dianella
This is a little Dianella flower with it's shiny blue berry in the background. Another one from the Boondall Wetlands, Brisbane.

Surprise!
This little spider hides on the flower hoping he's camouflaged enough that the insects don't see him. He then pounces when they land. I took another photo of a small moth on the flower, when I looked at it on the computer it was a dead moth being held by one of these little spiders. Would have been a great photo but the focus was a bit off.
